How many are going for spring bear ?
« on: March 26, 2010, 09:02:54 PM »
I am curious how many of you got drawn, and for what unit.
I posted a poll on who applied and Kapowsin had the most at 14, while Grande Ronde and Mt. View had 0.. :dunno:

I was wondering the same.
It seems that there are maybe 4-6 from here already.

As for being lonely...I guees it just depends on what the boundaries are. We could be hunting on top of each other.

Again, too early.
Yes, hunting next to each other. I think it would be humping if we were on top of each other.

I will be going but did not get drawn. Michelle got drawn, so will be tagging along with her she either got Lincoln or Kaposwin. Don't know what area she got drawn for yet. So will see.

i applied for sherman 1st choice and dayton 2nd. it's HIGHLY unlikely i drew dayton as a 2nd choice so im sure i'll be in sherman. either way, i think im sittin pretty! this is my 1st spring bear tag, had 5 points.

Looking at the odds from last year, I'd say it could just as easily go either way. Dayton had odds of 1 in 27.5 and Sherman was 1 in 26.7.

So with the odds for both permits being virtually the same, there's no way of predicting which one you drew.

Like you said though, either one is good. You must prefer Sherman since you had it 1st?

I looked and saw that I was selected, but can't figure out how to see which unit I was selected for.  Is there a way to find out which unit, or do I have to wait until the results are official?

No way to find out until they post the results. Tell me what you applied for and I'll give you my best guess.

I got drawn, but don't know the unit yet. I put in for Monroe, Skagit, Huckleberry and 49deg n. Hope I got Monroe, it's close to home.

iv kept a close eye on the draw/point breakdowns over the last few years and iv never seen a dayton tag drawn as 2nd choice, same with sherman. but i figured what the hay, id love to have either. im only interested in burning a spring tag on a trophy class color phase for a full mount, thats why i chose those 2 units. seen a few in both areas while turkey hunting. im more familiar with sherman, thats why it got the nod.

The only reason it wasn't drawn as a second choice is probably because nobody had it as a second choice. Having it as a second choice doesn't make it any harder to draw. What matters is what you have before it, as your first choice. If your first choice has a lot fewer permits and/or more applicants, then when your number comes up, and your first choice hunt is already gone, you will get your second choice if there are any of those left.

Bring it up to F&W, or DNR if there is timber damage on state land.  :dunno:

Not sure anymore.
They opened the CF due to timber damage and when I spoke to DNR about other state lands I was told it was up to the individual regions to assess and approach F&W.

Lincoln is new, and not only that, but of the westside spring bear units, it's probably the worst choice for a bear hunting area.
