2007 Bear Clearance Bows

I have been considering picking up one of the clearance priced 2007 models and was looking for opinions from the experienced masses.
I know most will say Mathews, Bowtech, etc. but I am specifically looking for input on these three bows:
 
- Bear "Truth"

- Bear "Code"

- Bear "Instinct"

I can get any one of the three for just under or a little over $300.

Do you have experience with them?  What are your thoughts?  Is the difference in speed that critical?   :dunno:IBO Ratings are 314, 310, and 306 respectively.

I like the look and feel of the Instinct the most, but the others feel good too.  Have not shot any of them as of yet, but hoping to in the next few days.

Will be primarily for Elk on the Wetside and general shooting at targets.  Maybe turkey as well.

I know some of you out there have years of experience, so let's here it.

I've heard very good things about the instinct, given it's price level. One of the best buys, so I'm told.

I talked my buddy into buying one with his discount a few months ago--bare bow for $210 OTD. He doesn't have it set up yet, but I really want to shoot it. I've read VERY good reviews for quality/performance VS. price.

It seems like a comfy bow for what I'd done with it.

I would say go with the one that is most comfortable to shoot for you. I have never known anyone that has owned one of these bows but Bear Archery has a really good reputation and I don't think you could go wrong with buying one of their bows.

As far as IBO Ratings, I wouldn't worry about it because you aren't going to get that kind of performance out of your hunting bow, for one your draw length is only 28" like mine so right off the bat you are going to lose fps plus you are only drawing 55lbs which is going to make you lose more fps. If you want a bow that is faster I would go with the bow that has the least brace height, if you want a bow that is more accurate go with the bow with the bigger brace height. There is a lot more to concider too, so maybe this link to this website can help you understand more about different compounds and how to size them up.

I live on this site and HuntersFriend.com lately.  Have read everything they have on that site.  I know fps will suffer, even if I crank the weight up.  Can pull the 70, but still nursing a shoulder injury, so not sure if I can do it continually.  I am leaning towards the Instinct, since it feels the best in my hand, but will hopefully find them to shoot.  The only two shops in my area, the Nock Point, and Van Winkles, do not have Bears to shoot...........

run down to outdoor emplorium and shoot the bear bows. they are on clearance right now.

and fps does not matter to much, i would much rather shoot a heavier arrows and get better penetration then to shoot a faster arrow...ive lost 2 elk due to poor penetration.
