Just looking for some feedback from the people that use Red Dot scopes. If you use one, how do you like it? Hows accuracy? What do you use yours on?

I use the Aimpoint Comp M2 and love it.  Wherever the red dot is, that's where the bullet is going, assuming you do your job correctly.  It's also very tough- I carried mine around Iraq for a year- still has the sand on it.  It was beat against trucks, doors, the ground, everything and never lost its zero.  The battery lasts a good long time, too.  I have it on my AR-15.  I also used it on my turkey gun when I came home from the desert. Works great.

Yep I accidentally left the service with my Comp M2 as well.  Two turns to Iraq being beat to *censored* and it still works great!  Only problem with it is the dot is 4MOA, so it's not for precision shooting.  Great for assault rifles, shotguns, or hunting out to 200yds.

Also, I have never had to replace the battery, and I've been using it (including leaving it on overnight a couple times) for 5 years.

I use an ATN Digital 2moa holographic dot sight on my customized Ruger MkII rimfire target pistol and a MatchDot4 2moa dot on my Kimber 1911 for Bullseye competition.

They are more precise than iron sights. I would not put one on a rifle, -other than an M4/AR as a tacticle weapon.

Buckmark pistol, or Buckmark rifle?   Warning.. The cheap BSA and such are fine for plinking, but they don't last. Eventually the dot turns into a lightening bolt of a star or they just quit working at all.  If you're thinking about competing with one, for Pin tops or speed steel, go with the much more expensive C'mor or something like that. If you're thinking about Bullseye competition using a dot, the Aimpoint and Matchdot are the most popular on the shooting line. The ATN digital is heavy by comparison of the holo sights on the market.

I've got a good price/source for a Matchdot.  Stay away from the Matchdot digital and J-Point. The windage/elevation adjustments are not click adjustable.

I have an aimpoint on my Ruger MkII .22 works good for grouse shooting and postal match.

I have a C-more scout on my M4.  Great for CQB and decent out to 100yds for accuracy although I would not use it for precision shooting and switch to the flip up iron sights for precision shooting over 100 yds.

Shot my first Turkey using a TruGlo red dot I believe.. It's been a few years.  It wasn't bad but I don't know about the life span of it shooting 3 1/2" Turkey Loads out of a pump gun.   :twocents:

Vortex Strikefires are relatively inexpensive and have a lot of happy customers.

I have a Eotech and a Aimpoint on my AR-15s. Love them for quick and easy. I have a rifle scope with a duplex crosshairs and a red dot in the middle of the cross hairs. Hate it. I feel like it covers up to much of the target. I would would get rid of the dot if i could.

My eye sight is getting so I can't keep the rear and front site in focus on my handguns. I'd like to eventually get a device like this for a 6" .22 S&W, and another for a 7 1/2" 44mag. What would you guys recommend?
Sisu have you tried not using the rear sight? this is my 44 at 20 or 25 yrds cant remember which

You're going about it all wrong if you're trying to keep the rear and front sights  and the target in focus all at the same time anyway..

'Front sight' shoot pistols with the target and rear sight blured.

That said, the most durable and best 'dot' sights that I see on the Bullseye pistol line are the MatchDot, Millet, and Aimpoint for tubular reddot scopes with 0 magnification.

The C-more is probably the most durable of the pistol- Holographic reddot sights. Although I've had great success with my ATN Digital. The ATN  is the heaviest of the bunch and I would not think about putting an Eotech on a pistol. B Square / Bushnell makes one but I have no experience with it.  The Doctor rear sight holographic replacement is pretty sweet and smaller than other sights. They get mounted on the slide of 1911 45acp's and hold up well.

There are a ton of cheaper reddot retical sights out there that just don't last.

PM me for my suggested specific model or to run a model you've found and want an opinion on. I've used a bunch of them, know people that use different ones than I do. The red dot sight runs the line in Bullseye competition and I have access to hundreds if not thousands of shooters across the states to ask. I also have a source for a good price for the Matchdot series. Most people will do well with a 4moa dot. I like more precision of a smaller 2moa dot for competition.
