Got my permit today....
On it, it says..
Season: Open on days designated by Weyerhauser between APRIL 15 - JUNE 15

Boundary : That portion of GMU 501 that is designated as the hunt area by Weyerhauser Company
 :dunno:
And the rest of the normal B.S......

No map or other information at this time.................

So it IS just Weyerhaeuser that is open? So apparently you are supposed to contact Weyerhaueser for that information? Or maybe it is just all Weyerhaeuser land that is normally open for public access? Kind of glad I didn't apply for it now.

The two things I noticed are , OPEN ON DAYS DESIGNATED BY...
And the extra 2 weeks..... :dunno:
I dont care about the rest, as long as the WH property I have been scouting is in the area designated as....... :dunno:

Yup, looks like the south block is the open area.

I have never been in Kapowsin.  So have no idea what to exspect or where to go.  Should be interesting.

Many years ago (before Hancock) there used to be a REALLY big one that hung around the south end of the lake...
The guy at the store complained about it getting into his compost pile, and we ran into it in the orchard while we were down fishing the creek in August.
That was when I bought my first bear tag....
Never had a chance for a bear after that. :bash:

As stick posted above....

I got my permit in the mail without any timberland contact info. In the past we would get a letter that explained who and how to contact the timber company as well as a permit at the same time. This permit is like the old days when you got your permit and just hunted the unit listed.

The perplexing part to me (unless we are going to get a letter from the timber company) is the verbage under Season and Boundary.

Season: Open on days designated by Weyerhaeuser between APR 15 - JUNE 15
Boundary: That portion of GMU 501 that is designated as the hunt area by Weyerhaeuser Company.

Why can't F&W provide a phone number or contact info? :bash:
Is WeyCo going to shut us out on certain days? :bash:

BTKR,  I think I would just call the Weyerhaeuser hotline (1-866-636-6531) and hunt whatever is open to access in the Lincoln unit. Apparently that is what they are saying with the permit you received. Which pretty much means all Weyerhaeuser land inside the Lincoln GMU.

By the way, I just got back from there, and found 3 big, steaming piles of bear crap. Well, slight exaggeration, maybe they weren't steaming, but one pile WAS really big! I'll post pictures later if I get a chance. I got GPS coordinates.  :)

Oh, lots of snow up there, it started at about 1300 feet elevation, and up about 1800 and above there was a foot on the ground. Had to get out and lock in the hubs....

Yes, that would be my interpretation as well, but having drawn on both public and private land in the past and receiving a boundary description on both, I was kinda expecting more of the same on this one.

Thanks for the number and I will be expecting the coordinates soon......by pm of course. lol :chuckle:

If you get back up there and they are smashed beyond recognition, sorry... :chuckle:
After coming down out of the snow myself, I saw the other 3 that I didn't take pictures of, but as I stated before, If the ones I am finding are bear...
It's going to be a good season, cannot wait to see your pics....
