TAURUS 66 IN 357 MAG

I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR A HANDGUN FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS NOW,  I WAS MOSTLEY LOOKING FOR SOMETHING SMALL AND CONCEALABLE,  WELL AFTER THINKING IT THROUGH A LITTLE,  I DECIDED THAT I AM GOING TO GET A TAURUS 66 IN 357 MAG,  

THE REASON FOR MY CHOICE IS, I WON'T BE GETTING MY CWP ANYTIME SOON, (THATS WHAT I TOLD MY WIFE)  I'LL PROBABLY GET IT NEXT MONTH.  SO I'M JUST GOING TO GET A NICE REVOLVER, THAT HAS SOME BALLS AND IS INEXPENSIVE.    AND ONCE I GET MY CWP I CAN CONVINCE MY WIFE THAT I NEAD A SMALL CONCEALABLE GUN,  IF I GET A SMALL GUN FIRST,..  SHE WON'T SEE THE POINT IN LETTING MY GET A BIG ONE SINCE I'LL HAVE A GUN ALREADY...    HOPEFULLY MY PLAN WORKS,  (I'M PRETTY SURE IT WILL)    SO IS THERE ANY REASON WHY I SHOULDN'T GET THE TAURUS 66?  I WANT A 357 MAG REVOLVER, BUT OPEN TO OTHER BRANDS.

There is no reason not to get that gun, but please don't yell about it.  Personally I would get a four inch barrel.  The accuracy difference between a 4 and a 6" barrel is most likely negligible but the ability to carry would be easier with the four inch.  If you really want big accuracy or extended reach then go with the REALLLLY long barrel.  I believe you can get a lot of rugers up into the 11 and even 12" range.

whats a ruger 66? do you mean a security 6 or speed 6? ive got a a ruger gp100 with a 4" barrel i had the 6" but i prefer the 4" the sp101 might be another option as it smaller than the gp100

Doesn't Smith & Wesson have a model 66?

I know they have a 686 or a model 60 as well, haven't seen a 66 in Smith.

Ruger is a Security Six I believe.

I have the Taurus 66.  It is Stainless, 4" barrel and I LOVE having 7 shots instead of 6.  Very nice gun, I outfitted it with Hogue Laminated Wood grips, it is gorgeous.  I think that as long as your marriage doesn't suffer (too much) it is very important that you get this gun!!!

 :)a 6 inch 357 is a very sweet shooter, open carry makes no difference between a 4 or a 6, concealed, well good luck
I think a Tarus 66 is a copy of a S&W 586/686, maybe a 19/66
Good gun in a smith.
I do admire your forethought and plan, hope it works out.
but I think you need at least one of each!

not a bad choice at all the only thing i recommend is a new set of grips it might just be me but taurus grips are very thin and don't feel to good in the hand when shooting the .357 mags

A good friend of mine and I each own that same make and model and they're both very accurate.

Have to agree. Picked up the cia 650 first thing I did was change the grips to hogue. A buddy has a tracker same.

ok,  one more question,  what if i get one with a 12" barrel?  but also get a 6" barrel,   i found one for really cheap with a 12" barrel,  but would like to have it with a 6".  there's no way i can find a better deal, but i was just wondering...  how hard it it to switch up the barrels?  would it void the warrenty?

Go with the 12 if you just gona hunt with it... a 6in is required for hunting.... I hunted with my fathers 357 colt trooper model and it was awsome for the deep dark dank woods... a pleasure to hunt with! 6 in is a good all pourpose  length... And the pistol can be used in firearm restricted areas!

i'm not sure,  i think they are,  i saw several barrels for sale on gunbroker.

OK.. I see where they list the 66S as a Silhouette gun with a 12" barrel.

As a medium frame gun in .357mag. STUPID....  You can't even load it hot enough for Silhouette.

And no.. the 66 would require a gun smith to interchange the barrel.  It's not a Dan Wesson!

Get the 6"!  Better yet, Get a Ruger GP100 with 6" barrel. Or a Ruger BlackHawk in 357mag with 6" barrel.
