I guess I will throw mine in. MuleySniper talked me into it. I still have nightmares of shooting over tomzilla 2 years ago. I swore off the bow last year because of it.

I was thinking about taking the bow out this year for thunder chickens.  I really like the idea of the guillotine but how do you practice with that to sight the arrow in with that type of broadhead?  They are pretty spendy to even waste one to see where it hits.  DO you just trust the claim that it flies like a field point?  Any info form someone that has shot them would be great.
Thanks

I will definitely take my black ice out for Toms, the only thing I hunt with rifle are yotes. I practiced with the guillotines last year just fine without breaking any blades. You can certainly try with a banana, or a hotdog (which has less resistance and is less prone to breaking a blade.) You HAVE to put the plastic tube sleeves on or they won't fly at all. For my practice set up, I actually used one of my paper coyote targets you can find at most sporting stores. I clipped the top to the end of a branch from a tree and used another clip (the black kind with the metal prongs you squeeze together) attached on the bottom of the paper that had a string tied to it with a stick hanging from it to keep the target in place and not blowing in the breeze. This completes the target part of the set up.

The last, and I think most important part is catching the arrow. I would suggest some old coat, clothing, etc that you don't mind getting messed up, just in case. I hunt with a ghillie suit and simply draped it over the branch a couple of feet behind the target. It worked wonders, caught the arrow, no broken blades and I was ready to hunt (confidently) with the same arrow.

It is true what others said also, they are 4" in diameter so you have 7-8" target area you need to hit. I wouldn't shoot past 25-30 max.

Shot this tom at 10yrds out of a double bull blind. He was getting ready to kick butt on my jake decoy.

If it flies it dies.

i dont know if you have to turn your poundage way down or what but i shot the guillitines once at a target! ever shot an old arrow without fletches and a tip? bout the only way i can explain it! i would have laughed my a$$ off if i would have trusted that they flew like a feild point and just let it fly at a turkey i may have killed the turkey but only cuz he was laughing so hard as well. i missed the block target at 10 yards!

I had about the same experience with them.  I could have killed one at 10 yards or less, but I never have gotten the chance that close, so my turkey kills are with normal fixed blade heads.  I still like to have a Guillotine with me, but I don't plan on using it first...would be a cool video, though!

Large 5" feathers or two sets of blazer vanes fletched straight / no twist on a heavy aluminum arrow use the 125grain and practice with 125g field point. We play with them but do not hunt with them. Just standard buzcut two blades for me.
