East-side Crappie....
« on: April 02, 2010, 09:22:29 AM »
so when do the east-side crappie start biting, I remember when i was 14 or so we used to get some good ones on Long lake (Spokane) but it seems in years past they have been getting smaller....do you think they will start biting sooner due to the warmish weather we have been having...?... I live in cheney and really havent done much exploring of the lakes around here for crappie yet...but I did catch one on clear lake last year that was about 9 inches or so....I just dont want to use all of my limitted permission slips to go fishing when its too soon to do so....thanx   Brandon

I think there's crappie in Silver Lake.  It may be to cold still.

 :yeah:

Also, the minimum length and possession limit is more restrictive.

I'd wait until May, but that's based on other areas, I don't know your local lakes.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Liberty Lake also holds crappie.  I caught a slab there last year while bass fishing.

The big question is whether you have a boat or not.  Eloika has a lot of nice crappie, but there isn't really any shore access for fishing.  I've been catching a few up there.  Silver also has them, though I havent fished it in a few years.  Long has them, but I don't know if there are any open launches yet.
