wow, 15 years, 3 women, 6 different houses and 10 kinds of food.....my boy is gone as of today. I have hunted, hiked camped and thrown the ball for the last time. Buck was the most loyal friend you coud ever imagine, never once in his life did he turn on me or the family. they say labs don't go 15 years, mine was a champ hunter for 12 and the last 3 he has crippled up pretty bad. 2 years ago I watched a wounded rooster out run him and I almost cried. pancreatitis did him in. I am truly sad. RIP, buddy.

Man.. They truly become one of the family, and when they leave us, they take a piece of our heart with them.

My condolances, one of life's great injustices is that dogs don't live long..Something about losing a good lab that you've hunted with that is almost unbearable to deal with..in a way it's tougher than loosing any human Friend..Do another lab a favor and go out and get a new pup and give it the best life you can.

Sorry to hear about Buck. Give Calli a hug for me, she probably misses him too. The way you talked of him he was a great guy to have around the house and field. Lee

Sorry for your loss. I too have a 15 1/2 year old lab whose day is coming soon as she is getting very crippled up. It is very sad to see them go down hill, just remember the good times.

Losing a good dog is like losing a close family member. It rips your heart out.
Just remember, he is running around pain free, and fetching birds in the Big Hunting Grounds in the Sky. Happy as a young pup.

RIP.
Losing a good dog is one of the more painful events in life. Sounds like he had a long and very active, enjoyable life. Can take some solace in that.

well after easter b-fast I broke out the tractor and dug a nice hole and buried buck. I backfilled with screened topsoil so the flowers will grow right over him. cali, my draht pup is pretty bummed right now.
thanks for the great years of service Buck.......I owe ya.

I'm also sorry for your loss. I've been there. I'm about to get a new lab pup soon, and going into it I know down the road, I'll be facing the pain you're going through now. The thing I know going into it is what you should keep in mind.... It's a very tough trade, what you're going through for all those good times, but it's worth it. I'm sure he had a great life with you. You'll see him again one day, and he'll already know where to take you for birds. I'll bet he's finding some really honey holes full of long tailed roosters right now!
