« on: April 04, 2010, 10:39:55 AM »
I am looking for a break barrel pellet gun 1000fps+ I have looked at the crosman quest and a couple others around $100 any suggestions? I need to take care of some birds that are eying my garden.

Thanks

It's been a while since I've researched air rifles. But I know you can't get anything worth having for $100. The minimum price for anything even halfway decent I'd say is $200. Get up to about $350 and then you're getting into an air rifle that you'll want to keep and use for years. I'd look first at RWS.

Can't remember if mine was $500 or $800.   Gamo, and that thing is brutally lethal

Actually if you want something cheap, look here:

http://www.compasseco.com/tech-force-tech-force-caliber-rifles-c-1_34_182.html

The Tech Force air rifles are Chinese made, and are supposed to be ok for the money. There's a lot of information on that site too that you can read.

I will look into the gamo, I just dont want to spend 200+ to shoot crows out of my garden, it makes my vegatables get very expensive :chuckle:

A good option if you have a 22 rifle is use the CB's. Very quiet and deadly.

I like those compasseco guns, I have been looking into the Gamo and some of them are not to much $ and seems to be a highly recommended brand, my old crosman 2100 lasted me 0ver 20 years and killed lots of birds and quite a few racoons in the last few years, it just wont pump up anymore.

crossman quest would be a waste of money,  even for $100    they do not last at all.  i had two 4 of them,  and i know several people that had a couple of them,  longest one lasted was about 4 months,  they're gaurgage.  ears my father-in-law gave me an air rifle as a gift about 2 years ago, walther talon, magnum,  in .22 cal.  its a wierd brand, but very nice,  its i big gun though, and kinda heavy,  looks sort of like the gamo wisper,   well it shoots .22 pellets at 1250 fps,   yes i said 1250!!  its insane,  i shoot it all the time,  i shot at least 6 or 7 thousand pellots through it,  and its still just as powerful as the day i got it.    my father in law bought three of them for $100 each.   i'll try to find out where he got them to let you guys in on the scoop

I have a crossman break action that I have had for a while.  It is a good gun as long as you keep the screws tight.  It used to be at the 1000 fps mark.  It may have dropped off slightly.  My favorite and best crow, squirel gun is the RWS 59.  Side cock, so you don't have any loss of accuracy.  It used to put a .177 pellet through a 2x4.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

I don't mean to throw cold water on anyone, but remember that air guns are not legal for hunting in Washington.
