old school smokercraft sleds
« on: April 07, 2010, 09:44:38 PM »
Just wondering if anybody on here has or has had one of the old smokercraft sleds like they made in the 70s. Not like jon boat style but the ones with the deeper  sides and stuff. Just wondering because im looking at one i think is a decent deal. Its the 14'. Its no willie or northriver but i was thinking it might make a decent poor mans sled  :dunno:

Those old Smokercrafts were good old sleds. I still have our 16 footer that my Dad bought in 1973, I am in the process of restoring it. Have the old 1973 Evinrude 65hp running, just need to sand and paint. With my 21 foot custom inboard Weldcraft and the old flatbottom we will have most all waters covered for Salmon, Steelhead, Sturgeon, trout and Duck Hunting.

There you go that will do the trick. Mine is just like that, ecxept for my paint is shot and the complete boat needs to be restored. My Step Mom left the old girl outside and we had to dig it out of the berry bushes. What did you give for it with no motor ?

my dad's got one that looks almost exactly like that, but it's a richline.  when i started out steelhead fishing that's what about half of the sleds on the water looked like, the rest were windshield boats.  wouldn't mind picking up something like that myself, especially in the 14-16' range.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

I think i got a pretty good deal on it for 850 with just the boat and trailer. About 1/4 of what i paid for a motor for it  :chuckle: Im rigging it tonight and cant wait to give it a spin! Ill post a few more pics when i do  :)

Here's a picture of my 73 smokercraft I baught a couple years ago. I paid $1,650. It's got a 50 horse merc, an old school kiekhaefer jet. I love this boat man it fly's up and down the river, I feel bad for the guy I baught it from I feel like I ripped him off. Hey I see your in Oakville, right on, I grew up in Oakville myself. Still have quite a few buddy's that live there.
To God alone be the Glory!!
