Need Coyote Help!!!!!!!!!
« on: March 14, 2010, 09:29:36 PM »
My In-Laws have a 20 acre farm out on the Key Peninsula that is very small. Chickens , Turkeys , Peacocks , etc. Basicly it is a coyotes buffet. I have sat on the roof of the garage all night a few times and had no luck. I have heard them all around me but never seen them and it sounds like there is 100 of em' when they start yipping at 2 a.m. Just wondering how to get them in in the day time so my folks quit losing so many birds.

I am sure they would allow anyone to come shoot as many as you want if some of you are close enough to want to. I have two tree stands we can put up too. They live on 20 acres and have an un developed 20 to one side and 10 acres of the same on the other. 22's and shotguns and bows only in this area as there are houses around.
The only person who has failed is the one who never tried.

Use some bird in distress calls, they will come if they hear whats on the dinner menu. If you need someone with a foxpro and will be in the peninsula area for spring break, I might be able to help  .

A Foxpro is always nice but if you want to have a little more fun, try Randy Anderson's line of open reed calls. If your an absolute beginner try the Lil Dog and work your way into some of the other calls. They carry them on-line at cabelas if you want to check them out.

Try a howler. They won't like another yote eating at their buffet.

we had no choice but to snare them on our land in Indiana when i lived out there. there was just to many and it was out of control. I was not even safe for my dog to go out alone.  we set up some snares and laid some traps. what we did was take a 5 gallon bucket. fill it with some chicken (live or dead). then dig a hole in the ground so that the bucket is flush with the ground. put some chicken wire over the bucket  so the yote cant get the the bait. If you use a live chicken its going to get some serious attention. put this trap close to the tree line. that way the coyote feels comfortable but just were you have a shooting lane. like shooting fish in a barrel!  :IBCOOL: let me know how it turns out. oh!!!! i almost forgot!!!! get a night fishing bell and attach it to the bucket so you can hear it and know when you got one!!!! SHOOT WELL!!

I'd love to come out there and try it out. I am new to coyote hunting but still a safe shooter. I got all geared up and went out to Index this last weekend but wasnt able to call anything in - I dont know if they just werent there or I wasnt do it right? Maybe both? Anyway, I would really like head out there with my boy for the weekend and try my best. Let me know if I can come out. And if anyone more experienced would let me tag along with you to learn a few things that would be great too!
I aint superstitious - cuz its bad luck!
