7017 Lincolna That portion of GMU 501 that is designated
as the hunt area by participating commercial
timber landowners.
50 April 15-May 31 NEW

Fish and Game at its best!

I am guessing that came from the regs pdf?

You have to realize that the area was not finalized by the time of printing.

And a year later, we're not sure it is yet :chuckle: :chuckle:  If they don't charge $100, I'm still on.  I'll do my scouting after the 15th :dunno:  Hope to see everyone out there taking advantage of their opportunity :hello:

If you see me, stop and say Hi  :hello:, but chances are you will only see my white F150 with a Tradgang decal, parked (Or maybe I'll be running around on my bike (?) so if you see a camoflaged guy riding a TW200 with a recurve poking out of his pack, its me   :chuckle:
I will probably be running around looking for a 09 Toyota Tundra slate grey says RRcalls in back window, so I can pick up a "secret weapon"

I still havn't decided if I am going to turn my permit back in or not.  I will make my mind up by Monday.

For 1 when I submited my hunt choices on the site the app made it through but the choices did not.  I wanted Lincolon as a first and Kapowsin as a second.  The guy from F&G that called me reversed them.  So I was drawn for Kapowsin.  I was only putting in for Kapowsin because BLKBEARKLR was.

I called and asked Hancock a week ago about who I could bring in.  They said only someone with a pass or family.  Well my husband is going out of town for a month on buisness so he is out.  BLKBEARKLR has a pass but he has his little girl and can't just drop what he is doing to help me pack out a bear.

So if I want to hunt Kapowsin I am stuck doing everything by myself.  Don't get me wrong I hunt 90% of the time by myself and I expect to do it by myself, BUT atleast when I am fall hunting I have the option of someoe coming to help.

Also it takes over an hour for me to get to the hunt area, + $100 permit, and I can't make a good hunt out of it and still be available to customers dropping of there bears.  It doesn;t help I had to have a new fernace put in the house $8000 later.

I don't want to sound like an AHOLE but I remember saying somewhere on this forum before the draw deadline that the permit was $100. It says in the hunting regs that there is a fee

So now that you were drawn you are mad you got to pay $100 and that you want to turn your permit in. DONT PUT IN FOR PERMITS YOU DONT WANT! IT MAKES THOSE OF US WHO WILL PAY THE $100 AND ARE NOT DRAWN UPSET! I know three people who put in for Kapowsin were not drawn and I come on this website and people are talking about turning their permits in. RESEARCH BEFORE YOU SELECT YOUR HUNTS!!!

Yours to do what you want with it Michelle. :dunno:   Anybody that was around for the 1st year drawing in Kapowsin didn't have the option of refund points.  But then that was a cluster.........

I really don't care if you are pissed or not.  Who said I was mad about getting drawn or paying for a $100 pass?  A little put out that I didn't draw Lincolon.  Not put out enough I wouldn't hunt Kapowsin.

I'll tell you why I am mad.  I am mad that when we bought this house the Heat and A/C was supposed to be service and instected by the previous owner.  They said it was in "excellent condition".  We have nickled this thing through the winter.  $1000 of service later and it going out again (Monday) and causing our electric bill to double (all winter) we had to have it replaced.

I knew there was a fee to hunt Kapowsin before I put in for the draw.  That it cost $100 was on the low end of I don't care's.  The problem I have to face is that we just dropped $8000+ to replace the heat and A/C in our house.  This happened after I put in for the drawing.  I didn't put in my hunt choices until the day befor the deadline.

So after dropping $8000 Thursday (yes this thursday) I am running a little short on bill $$.  So if I hunt Kapowsin I have to drop $100 for the pass.  I live over an hour away.  Now how much gas $$ do you think I will be out if I hunt this the way I want to?  I am self employed.  I don't get paid vacation.  I don't work than I don't get paid.

So I guess the next question would be WW(bigtex)D?  Pay your bills or have fun spring bear hunting?

If you don't think I take this Spring Bear hunt serious than you are dead wrong.  You talk to BTKR, BLKBEARKLR, ShadowCat, Snowman, and anyone else on this site that knows me they will all say the same thing.  I get very excited befor the draw and really disapointed after when I don't.  Harvesting a Bear is pretty much #1 on my list.

If you don't think I was excited when I got drawn you can talk to BLKBEARKLR.  He was the one that looked up my success over the phone because I wasn't home.

I choose to be able to pay my bills.

Like I said above I still havn't made up my mind.  I may still hunt or I may decide it isn't worth it.  Get my points back and try again next year.

You do whatever you feel like, the permit is yours, I would definately get your points back if you dont feel you will be able to utilize the permit...
Personally I wish you would have filled out your application correctly, so I could call you to come help me pack and skin my lincoln bear  :chuckle:

The Lincolon unit is only about 20 minutes or so from my house.  I know of atleast 4 or 5 people that have drawn that unit.  That is what I really wanted to get drawn for because it was close.

You need help packing don't hesitate to call.  I'll even gut it for you, LMAO.

I appreciate the offer, unfortunately, when/if I get one it will be down in the bottom of some nasty stuff, and I wont have a phone (or reception), unless I see a dumb one on a road, but I doubt it...

I don't know that you can turn in your Kapowsin permit unless you have a reason for doing so. I'm just not sure the WDFW will agree that because you spent $8000 on a new furnace, that is their fault. I don't know.

You  could just not hunt it, save the $100 and save all the gas money, but I'm just not sure you will get your points re-instated. I guess that depends on who you talk to and how nice you are to them. Maybe you can talk them into giving your points back, but I just wouldn't count on it.

Michelle,

Do not worry about it. Turn it in if you can and get your points back. I know you were excited when you got drawn but unforseen circumstances have made you
re-evaluate. You put it and played the lottery just like we all did and you got drawn. I put in for Kapowsin and did not. Oh well I will try again next year.

And remember if you don't get drawn next year, the trip to Alaska is still an open invite. My partner up there has the 26ft King Fisher and I still have my 14ft zodiac so we will be able to get out and smack some bears. It is a fun hunt and you won't see any one driving the roads because there are none.

So do what is best for you and your family, if you can't afford it and if you can turn it back in and get your points then do so.

I already called them.  I also called Hancock and had them put my app on hold.  They did not question me either they said to send in the card and have it post marked befor the season opens and my points will be given back to me.

They also made mention that there were quite a few unhappy people that drew.  I am not sure why.

Like I said I am very happy that I got drawn.  That is not the problem.  I just can't put 100% into the hunt and I need to cover bills.

I may or may not keep my card.  I don't know yet.

Yes, she can get her points reinstated. She called F&W right after I found out I could get mine back.

There must be a policy change or there were screw ups in the drawing because F&W has been receiving a lot of calls and they were very quick to let me know I could turn my permit in and get my points back. No questions asked.

Ooops....She beat me to it.

I'm sure the future of spring bear hunting is nice and secure. no backlash at all will come from of this from the timber companies because of people's $h!t ability to follow through with the permits they put in for I'm sure  :bash: go ahead flame me
