It makes running crappy designed boats better.... Please anyone reading this I am not trying to lesson someone elses boat but stating some basic facts about hulls not designed for jets... A jet shouldn't be modified but when the cheaper manufacturers, technically shouldn't have trim and tilt as a feature either, if it is set right it isn't needed.. Lowe, G-3, etc got into the market becasue of people wanting economical boats for jets and running shallow. They already made great shallow pond, lakes, swap boats, so why not jets.... So they started claiming their hulls were designed for jets. If your jet boat back end drops drastically when taking off it is either not set up right or a bad hull design the later your not going to do much about that but to put counter weight or extra personnel up front, which defeats the reason for a jet - shallow water running. What they came up were Jon boats with poorly designed hulls for jets, they had to come up with something to improve the performance and thus came the Whale tail. If you have to utilize stabilizers or trim tabs on a jet then it wasn't setup properly in the beginning or bad hull design. A great read on jets design and hull performace, check out Wooldridge web site for better details....
