screwed again
« on: April 15, 2010, 12:34:57 PM »
SO I got up early this morning, walked three miles in the dark to get to the area I wanted to hunt. Just as its barely light enough to see I walk around the corner and heres a white chevy van parked in the woods and two guys standing in the middle of the road. APPARENTLY they know the guy who owns the adjoining property and he let them drive right on up onto the state land which I, again, walked three miles in the dark to get to. Whatever they were there first so I really didn't have any choice but to move on. The worst part was they seemed even more pissed to see me there then I was to see them there. Whatever...
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

Doesn't it suck when that happens? It's hard to know who is going to be able to drive in to a gated area, whether they are legal or illegal.

Yeah i'm not mad at the guys for taking advantage of their association with the guy, I would as well. Just frustrating when you work your butt off to get somewhere and someone took the shortcut and beat you to it. The only plus is it forced me to check out a new area which ended up having quite a few birds.

I feel your pain man.  Worse when it happens and you've got a young hunter with you that had to work twice as hard as you did hiking in... :bash:
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

That sucks!  Remember though, good things tend to happen to those who give it the extra effort.  Hopefully there will be a 10" incher in your sights tomorrow. :)

I know what you mean. I just got home. Drove 2hrs last night to get to my spot, and found cars parked on the side of the road near it. I drove about 1.5 miles down from it to sleep. Wake up and see car lights down near a private driveway (not suppose to park there).
I drive back to a spot that over looks where I wanted to hunt and can see flash lights , where I wanted to be, out in the brush.

OK they beat me to it (4am).
So i sit back and watch the mourning unfold.
Well another guy shows up at daybreak , after the Turkeys came down from there roost. Driving his ATV across private land. (must of had permission) and scares every bird away. Wile he is getting into his pop-up blind. LOL

I couldn't believe it. That was a honeyhole, and that guy blew it for himself and the others that where just a few yards away from him.

I know this is my first post but I have been reading these post for about 5 months now. Where about were you hunting? I ran into the same problem today too with 2 guys in a white truck.
