WA Bighorn Sheep Tag
« on: April 15, 2010, 11:13:16 PM »
If a guy was going to start putting in for a WA sheep tag and wanted the most remote backpack hunt he could get where there might still be a place a big ram could hide...which hunt should that person put in for?

Wrong State

The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

Not really a backpack hunt, even if you were to draw.

Definately the wrong state for a backpack hunt for sheep.

Try Area 4 in WY  ;).  I killed my ram 9 air miles into the wilderness.  Two days before the season, I watched an old stud ram close enough I could count all 14 annular rings through the spotting scope, and was reasonably sure he had 38" horn length and a 42" maximum spread.  Only about 14" bases, but ...
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

I hope you are - and with a tag with your name on it in your pocket!

Bighorn Crags in ID. Serious back pack hunt.

I would take just about any tag in this state, unfortunately I think I have a better chance of drawing MT sheep.
