Reloading for a Marlin XS7 .243
« on: April 17, 2010, 01:08:28 AM »
Has any one on here reloaded for an XS7 in .243?  I think I want to stick with 100 gr. bullets, but I dont have any powder yet.  I am open to all recomendations as to bullet and powder combinations.  I just bought a case of 1000 Winchester primers and I have a bunch of brass.  So if anybody has a load that they would like to share it would be apreciated.

There's a reason they call it hunting, not killing.

Every barrel has it's sweet spot, two rifles of the same make and model will shoot different with the same load.  Pick a bullet that is appropriate for the hunting you'll be doing.  Then out of your loading manual pick a powder that will work for you, if your going to be doing   a lot of paper punching and varmint hunting and going to be using a powder measure for volume loading I'd look at a short cut or ball powder.  If your going to be weighing all your loads then anything works.  My 243 is used for LR pred hunting and I weigh every charge and have had excellent results with 4064.   Start low and work up a load that works for your rifle.

I have one rule that I adhere to NEVER use a load off the internet unless you can back it up in a loading manual.

Excellent advice.
