40 pounds draw measured at 28 inch draw length or less
20 inch arrow minimum length
6 grains per pound of draw weight or
minimum of 300 grains (this is what a fellow shooting 40 pounds needs to comply with Washington regulations)

Sometime watch Ted Nugent's Spirit of the Wild TV show.
Ted's wife kills African plains game with a little over 40 pounds draw weight.

“The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter can not be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles.”
