« on: April 18, 2010, 07:44:12 PM »
Wow was I suprised to see a deer around here still packing bone this late. I also got a trail cam photo of another buck with this one that has already started to grow his new headgear. Atleast there are 2 more sheds to find!!!

Pretty cool, just goes to show that all things are variable. I guess there is still hope for a few sheds. I was looking for moose sheds while turkey hunting but had no luck  :bash:. Some guys I normally hunt with found a matched 6x6 set of elk sheds out of Colville though  :whoo:. Thanks for posting.

That deer looks pretty feminine.  Wonder is it's one of those kind..........?  Might explain why the headgear is on.

There is a thought....
But the few I have heard about/seen were still in velvet, it never came off... :dunno:

I know of two bucks that friends have killed in the Little Pend Orielle during the late whitetail season that were mirror images of the photo posted that had no sign of male characteristics.  I have heard of does with antlers still in the velvet though.

I shot a doe with horns late archery season and it was still in velvet. I will keep ya posted if he or she ever drops them.

That deer in the photo is a buck according to his tarsal glands.  Most stags will be in velvet year around so I think he's just really late.  Good question for C.J. Winand.
