There definately has to be some respect shown to the animal.
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

Congratulations to all.

I have comment on the topic of hunting pics that is timely: how a photo is staged and presented says alot about us as individuals and, sometimes unfortunately, hunters as a group. In my opinion, personal photo albums, not public forums are the place for pictures featuring gut piles, arrows still in the animal and severed heads. I think that on these public forums we need to show ourselves in the best light possible which requires some thought. I would suggest we think about it, please, when we are taking and sharing pictures.

Well said!

2010 mule deer in eastern idaho in december. it was -10 when he was hung over night before i got him to the butcher. good eating! blew the 30 yard shot and nailed him broadside at 60 yards when he turned around to see what happened.

All great animals !!!! Thanks for posting, looking gets me excited for the season.   I disagree with the comments about cleaning up the pictures. I think it is silly to clean off blood, put tongues back in, etc. No reason to be gory but nothing wrong with an arrow, blood etc. If you want to brush the animals hair, & put some makeup on it also, then go ahead , but I don't see a single thing wrong with any picture above. It is a free country, if it offends you , don't look. My  :twocents: .   Mike

**** If you alternate your lifestyle because of a bully, hasn't the bully already won ?   Good to be sensible for sure but the pictures discussed have not gone over any line that I can see. Congrats to all. Mike

It is a free country

Yes, and in this free state (country) I-713, the trapping initiative, was passed one week after the anti's ran a commercial showing a house kitty in a toothed, steel jaw trap; which wasn't even a legal trap in this free state (country); so their offensive advertisement had to be pulled off the air; but the damage had been done and the trappers lost.

What if the question of whether or not we can bowhunt winds up as a ballot initiative someday? Do you want a tasteless (and to some but not us offensive) photo to show up in an anti-hunting advertisement and for the non-hunting public to base their opinion of archery hunting on that one photo? Think about that. It is a free country and it seems reasonable to me to take precautions so as to not screw it up for everyone else.

Excuse me now, I need to go try on my new pantyhose & garter and touch up the make-up. But one more thing; let not this thread be completely hi-jacked by my comment. IF the topic of 'tasteful public success photos' is worthy of further consideration/discussion, then let's start a new thread so we can leave this one as it was intended.

I'd just like to remind everybody that it's about the hunting, not just the killing. In other words, it's about the total experience, the sport itself and the challenge involved. Bowhunting, done right, is a justifiable and honorable pursuit. Done for the wrong reasons, simply chalking up kills and seeking personal glory, it's taking away rather than giving back to a principled way of life that has to be experienced to be understood. Well done, Snapshot.

Back on topic:

Nice job with those bulls Fish-on.  Looks like you have a pretty good string of successes going.  Keep it alive this year!

Probably wont get the chance to hunt for myself this year. My hunting buddy drew the mudflow bull tag. So I am going to help him out by calling and packing for him. Will be a great year and a hell of a trip. I dont know who is more excited about the tag, him or me..lol

Mrmorton, I am trying to figure out if that is one heck of a buck or if you have really short arrows.  :chuckle:

Heheh...I was thinking big buck but maybe you're right.  When you have alligator arms and an 18 inch draw everything looks big.   :chuckle:

Just joking - nice buck.
