ya but there right on the ground and only 1 or 2 feet up, there sign looks just like what stiknstringbow posted (not saying your pics arnt bear damage)

Yes, but if you look closely you will notice that it is completely different.

Porky damage.


Notice how small the bark pieces are and if you look close you will see turds and quills.

I'll post a few peels as I can find them.  I came up on a bear on a fresh job two springs ago and have some good photos of the tree.  Got to find those.  Some are old but I've seen maples peeled up 10' where they run up the tree like a banana peel.

I found fresh peels yesterday in the monroe unit. I parked and could count 10 from the same one spot.  I was thinking they might only be a few days old at the most.
