2010 opening day toms
« on: April 20, 2010, 05:23:33 PM »
My dad and I found these toms the day before the season opener. The next morning we set up the decoys and had two hens fly in first and nonstop called the rest of the flock in. The two toms strutted all the way to their final resting place. I didnt even have to use any calls worked out great. My tom has a 10 inch beard and 1 1/8 spurs my dads was 9 1/2 beard with 1 inch spurs.

That is just awesome. Being out in the woods with your Dad is a great picture. Congratulations on two really nice toms.

Nice birds!  Nothing like being in the woods with your old man.  What part of the state were you hunting?  The tips of the tails on the ones you and your Dad got are really dark.

We hunt in the northeast part of the state. We have seen alot darker tail feather colors the more north you go. I dont know why.
