Lots a gobblin
« on: April 21, 2010, 03:27:36 PM »
Best opener ever for me.  Played guide to a bunch of friends over the first 4 day but still manged to kill 2 birds myself.... one a double bearded bugger.  Grand total over the 4 days:
- 9 gobblers and 6 jakes called in
- 5 gobblers killed
- 1 jake killed
- 1 gobbler missed

Hunted several different spots in 2 counties.... never took more than 2 birds off 1 spot.

That's a great season Intruder!  I really like the part about not taking more than two birds out of each area.  That's classy.

Seem to be a lot of 2 year olds and a lot of jakes this year.  Makes for a ton of competition and eagerness.

While in the grand scheme of things it probably doesn't make a big difference, it's just something that I've adopted... especially early in the season on the young birds.  The 2 time we did take 2 it was 2 hunters each taking a bird when multiple birds came in.   I kinda think they should only allow 1 bird a day per hunter myself..... just my  :twocents:.  I do think a lot of jakes get whacked by allowing that.  Again, probably not a big deal, more a personal preference.  Definitely not looking down my nose on those who do or have done that.  Have seen it happen unintentionally too.

I wish they would go to one bird a day as well.
