OUCH!!! Just curious, is that a cross-bow arrow? Looks too small for a regular arrow...

Sad thing is there are *censored*es on here that think that shot is good.    Does look short, but with some of the overdraws these days :dunno:

I was thinking that initially but wasn't sure if they would have enough momentum to get that much penetration on a head shot... stupid shot regardless

Looks like a crossbow bolt.

The deer looks fine and healthy.  Better off than a shot from a rifle to the leg leaving it limping for life.

hey, where's Professor Chaos? Anyone seen him?

I hate crap like that.  Some *censored* shoots the thing in the head, somebody gets a picture of it, sends it around...well, it just makes everyone that's an archery hunter look like an idiot.  That's too bad.

Yep, hate to see that kind of thing.  Hope that it was just something that went wrong, an errant arrow, or a hit twig or something that sent an arrow into an unintended area.  It happens, it shouldn't, but it does happen.  I am hopeful that it wasn't an intentionally aimed arrow.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

Reminds me of a moose hunting show I saw earlier this week.  The guy shot at a bull and the arrow deflected off some grass and bounced up and stuck in the base of the antlers.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Maybe its just me and the angles playing tricks, but the arrow is moved in the 3rd pick. The shaft is longer on the exit side in the 1st pic. Maybe a photoshop job? hhmm??

I posted this same pic here a few months back..think it was JackofAllTrades or robescc that determined it was a Crossbow bolt. I deleted the Pic after a general concensus that it should come down before all the arong (antis) people saw it...

No such thing as a crossbow ARROW.  They are BOLTS.  Can't judge because there is no story but this is pretty lame.

Antlerking and I saw a buck last spring while shed hunting with a carbon arrow sticking straight out of the back of his head.   :bash: Seemed to be doing OK when we saw him, gave me a headache just looking at him.
I've hunted almost everyday of my life, the rest have been wasted.

That is a stupid comment in my opinion. Sorry General, not trying to trash on you but I do see  it differently than that. I have had a shot go bad with a rifle.. once...no one to blame but myself. The shot was there,,,,broadside but I pulled the shot to far back. That there is a stupid shot by a unethical hunter. No other way to look at it. Again, just my opinion.

and ya wonder why archery gets a bad rap. I'm almost to the point where you should have to qualify with the weapon you want to hunt with before you can buy the tag. probably wouldn't help though.

I hate to tell you this, but I know a lot of people that can hit a target with a bow, or a rifle, and "qualify" as expert shots, and not be able to hit a damn thing without a bench rest, or a controlled environment...Qualifying with a weapon has nothing to do with hunting!!!

I saw a hunting show one time where a guy shot a buck in the head from a tree stand. The odd thing was that when he shot his arrow started off going towards the vitals and then hooked violently to the right and ended up hitting the deer in the head and killed it. Point of the story is that who knows what happend here it may have just been a shot gone wrong. I do a agree that if it was intentional it is pretty lame. In either case I feel bad for the deer.

I think as hunters we sometimes shoot ourselves in the foot. If you happen to get a picture of something unfortunate like this; keep it to yourself and don't send it out on the web for any and all to see. Things like this gives PETA ammunition to use against hunters...  :twocents:

Unfortunately this is just something that sooner or later is bound to happen. I remember when I used to think that Ted Nugent was too forward with the blatant truth and reality of hunting and killing. Now I totally agree with him talking about hunting without any sugar coating. People need to not be sheltered from the reality. I'm sorry the deer has that arrow in it's head, I hope the arrow either comes out so the deer can heal or some other hunter gets the deer so it doesn't go to waste. But I'm not sure it's that bad of thing for people to have to understand $hit happens, even when you are hunting. :twocents:

 :yeah:

Thats a cross-bow bolt but I'm sure this will get into the wrongs hands quickly and make archery look bad. Hopefully it was just a bad shot that got deflected by a branch or something but I cant see shooting at a deer while it facing towards you, thats a pretty small target and the deer would be alert enhancing the chance of the deer jumping the string. Maybe that what happened, facing towards shot and the deer dropped its body and head when it jumped the string. Pretty careless either way.

I would have to say that this an arrow and not a bolt.I shoot 26 inch arrows and they look like bolts because they are so short.Either way bad shot, someone needs more practice and maybe some instruction on a good moral decision.
Right is Right even if no one else is doing it,Wrong is Wrong even if everyone is doing it.
