I would say the bear was more in the line of 150 lbs or so. Nothing huge, but decent enough for some (including me if I had a tag and a bow).

They are so hard to judge the size of.  I would say at least 125.  The first bear I passed this year on opening day was about that size.  Guessed it at about 100#'s,  then when I got home and looked at my 90# dog.... it would have dwarfed my dog.  I go by ears, snout and height/length.  Unfortunately I tend to underestimate to avoid ground shrinkage.  If they would just stand still long enough to put them on the scale or allow you to measure their melons before you had to decide to shoot.....  :P

im looking for a small one with my spring tag this year. i want a golor phase to do a rug with. and the smaller ones make cheaper rugs :P a 4.5 to 5 footer sounds about right :chuckle:
