westside carp shootin
« on: April 25, 2010, 08:12:35 PM »
anyone know of any lakes on the westside to shoot some carp? ive been wanting to do it for a while now so i picked up the ams kit today and got it all dialed in. ive heard you can shoot carp anywhere that is open to fish, so this makes green lake legal right? ;D :stirthepot:

Would be, except I think those are "Grass Carp" and therefore protected...  :dunno:
I know that on Lake Washington, there are some common carp that hang out by shore behind where they store the log-booms near Renton/Kennydale.

Chambers or Long in Lacey would be worth a shot.........you might check the regs first though, because Chambers may have grass carp in there too if I remember right.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Sammamish has some monsters in it.  I'm not sure if chumming is legal, but we used to chum them with a can of creamed corn when I was a kid in WI.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

I had a friend that bowfished Lake Washington a couple years back.  He said it wasn't worth it due to the harassment.  The tree huggers will have the sheriff and fish and game there in no time.  Even with the right to hunt law that we have these days to protect us from harassment, the big money from the homeowners on the waterfront will overrule the redneck out there shooting carp and doing the lake some good!

All they can do is check you for a license, if you are smart you carry a copy of the regs' with you when you fish in this state, when you get threatened with a ticket you just point out the appropriate parts of the book and tell them to have a nice day! I've done it plenty of times when confronted by the fishcops and haven't gotten a ticket yet but I have had them refuse to look at the book while insisting that I was in the wrong at which point I just ignore them.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

It seems like alot of people think shooting carp with a bow is illegal.I have had police officers show up alot where I go.It doesn't bother me at all.I think it's our duty as bowhunters to stir the pot as much as possible.
