2010 Steven's Co Winter kill Bull
« on: April 27, 2010, 12:14:39 PM »
A buddy and I were out and about doing some shed hunting a few weeks ago when we found this guy piled up under a big fir tree. Sad to know a bull of this caliber is gone out of such a small herd.

Looking at that first picture and the background scenery seems Like an area I am familiar with? During last years late W/T season, a friend described seeing a bull like that.

IMHO - Definitely not cougar kill (no ribs or other usual bones eaten, cats eat many of the bones). Easy winter, so either wounded during hunting season or a wolf kill. I think I recognize the mountains and know from a very reliable source there was another 5x5 bull that was found near there this last winter, it was still being eaten on by wolves when it was found and there were so many wolf tracks they were not certain how many wolves were involved.

Ridgerunner-Great Find, just a shame it wasnt after your shot.  I hear those elk often get pushed to our neighbors side.

Ya the elk in this area get pushed every direction but into my cross hairs seems like. Under pouplated and over hunted.
