Nowadays, we have men carrying "manbags" like that!

It doesnt look like a comfortable way to carry it...but thats just me. Great pic. Nice buck on the ground. Check out the guy at the fire, he has a nice pistol on his belt...and a huge shealth maybe in front?

I've done it twice with 2 whitetail doe's my father in law shot. I did it in wheat country and it was relatively flat. It's not that bad and a hell of a lot better than dragging the deer a long ways, at least for me.

I might be able to do it with a yearling! No way I could carry a buck or doe very far like that.  Love the oldtime pictures!

you have to be tall enough too so it won't drag on the ground.

I have carried a doe like that before, while I was crossing a deep creek. When I got her up on my shoulder I was really suprised how much more mobile I was..... I imagine if you had to walk like that for 2 miles you would be a hurttin unit.... Plus that dude is on roids for sure, you cant tell by the photo but my money is on him killing that thing with his bare hands.

i think the guy in the old pic  probably balanced the load by carrying the  buck on his  other shoulder.  you cant cheat the mountains pilgrim
you cant eat the horns, but backstraps look like crap on my wall!!!!

While I will agree that BC is a large dude, that pic would make him go about 600 pounds. He's not that large. That is a great pic. You probably could have just put her in your pocket if you had another one to deal with.
