Opening Day Blue Mountain Birds
« on: April 30, 2010, 07:50:06 AM »
It was hard to get the wife up at 0300 on opening day, it turned out to be worth it. We heard some gobbling a about 0530 so I started calling , they answered back. It wasn't long before we saw em. There were five jakes and a big tom. I called again with a couple of loud clucks and they came running. They all ran right up to the B-mobil decoy @15 yds. I told the wife to shoot the tom and I wopuld take one of the jakes. 0630 two birds down!!
The tom had a 9" beard and 3/4" spurs, it ended up being a great hunt.

Congrats and welcome to the site.
That country looks familiar

You are the man! Poor birds...
It is hard to follow one great vision in a world of darkness and of many changing shadows. Among these shadows men get lost.

too cool!
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Nice Work!  Doesn't look like many roost trees in that country!

Thanks! There are a few roosting trees up the draws, it's a nice place to hunt with little pressure.
