Bear hunting in Idaho
« on: April 30, 2010, 08:18:51 PM »
Drove over to Wallace, ID for some bear hunting.  Left around 4:30 and got there around 0630.  Pouring rain and only about 34 degrees.  Got nearly up to Moon Pass and it was snowing hard as heck.  They got nearly 18 inches of new snow last night at the pass.  Saw about 30 elk in five different herds and probably 20 deer.  No bears.  Awesome country!!

Nice!  Glad to hear you saw a bunch of animals in that rugged wolf country.

That is gorgeous country. I used to hunt elk there back in the mid to late 80's. (pre wolf) Saw lots of bear sign and some real nice muley's.

Hound guys have been hitting the north half pretty hard because of all the wolf action to the south.  Guess the wolves caught on becasue they finally crossed "the divide".
