Awesome, congrats!  Is this on private land?  Great little German buck!!!

Everything in Germany is private land. We paid a certain amount of money to the forester so that we could hunt there whenever we wanted for the next year. No other fees unless we want to buy the meat and we always get the trophy.

So you pay the land owner to hunt the land but they get to keep the meat?

all land is "private" whether it is owned by an individual or the forst department.  the forstampt needs hunters to keep the numbers down so all the young trees they plant dont get munched on.  this land is leased from the forstampt and we hunt it under the pretence that we kill as much in their respective season as possible. ;)

the red portion of the pelt is his summer coat starting to come through. eventually the whole thing would be bright red.
