can't figure it out
« on: August 26, 2010, 12:53:39 PM »
I was just wondering if any of you guys have had your puppy ever eat sand?  :dunno: I take my 4 and a half month old black lab, along with our 7 year old chocolate down to the river on nice days for a swim. For some reason she loves to get a mouth full of wet sand and eat it. It is all over here nose and when she comes and licks me, I can actually feel some sand still on her tongue.  :bdid: Is this something I should worry about, will she grow out of it? I try to get her to stop but all she does it grab a quick mouthful and run off...

Not if you don't let her go swimming or she will sink like a rock

Dogs eat cat *censored* all the time and you are worried about yours eating sand? There is probably something in the sand it likes the taste of or a mineral it's lacking.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

She actually eats it. She finds a little spot where this a some water with the sand, then she shoves her face down in it and comes up chomping on the sand. I am more worried that it might do something bad to her insides then anything. So far the only crap she really enjoys eating is elk crap so that helps. I have seen dogs eat theirs or other dog's crap and it makes me want to  :puke:

I dont think it would hurt anything for her to be eating the sand, but just to be sure, give your vet a quick call and run it by them. doesnt hurt to have the professionals opinion.
