First Tom Down
« on: May 08, 2010, 10:50:06 AM »
Tried opening weekend and had several gobbling but would not come in. Went out this morning and the weather sucked, windy, light rain and nothing headed out and was going to call it a day and decided to try one more call and then bam, gobble, set my nephew up and the decoy and backed off and kept calling and he kept on coming. Problem was he came in on my side and not where I had my nephew at. I took the shot and down he went.  :IBCOOL: My nephew however got his first shot at a jake that was hanging around the Tom. He missed but he was excited. He did not see the Tom until I shot it. Going back out this afternoon and try and get him his first bird. The funniest part was when I asked how it felt to shot the 12 guage and he said with a huge grin I did not feel a thing.... :chuckle:

So it took me a bit to get back to add these but we ended up taking 1 tom and 3 Jakes. More importantly my Nephew got his first turkey ever.  :IBCOOL: What a great season it was. Now bring on Deer and elk. I hope to help him get his first deer this year.
