Montana Alternate's List
« on: May 10, 2010, 02:16:15 PM »
Montana alternates list closed yesterday.  Did everyone get their ALS submitted and are keeping their fingers crossed???  I got drawn during the regular drawing but my dad, uncle, and cousin did not so I'm hoping they get lucky and get a good position draw!!  Good Luck everyone!

No not alternate list, that is bonus point on the special permit system.

If I remember correctly, they made it either all the way, or most of the way through the alt list last year. I think it will be a similar year with the economy and all.

Does anybody know how many licenses they gave back last year, in actual numbers? Obviously, ever year is different, but was just curious. Like Wea300mag said, I remember people saying last year that it was more than usual, but I didn't know if Montana publishes actual statistics on this or not?

Thanks for any info.

I have the exact numbers and will try to find the email from MFWP but from what I got from them they did not make it most of the way through last year.  I only hunt deer and have a Landowner Sponsor but I think there was something like 150 people on that list and they gave out like 12 tags.  For the General Deer Combo it was something like 600 on the list and 104 tags given out..  As for the Deer-Elk Combo I didn't ask for those numbers but I know it's higher than the others because they also use the unpurchased Outfitter tags I believe..  I'll find that email and get the exact numbers.

A friend who is on the alternate's list called Helena and they said that all those on the alternates list are put in a hat and then they draw names for the tags available.  Does anyone have any different info'?
It never changes, but it is always different.

Once you are on the list you are then randomly assigned a number, that determines your place in line so to speak.

I don't know everything but it says that a random drawing will occur on May 17th. This is directly from the website.

Everyone on the list got a tag last year. There was no alternate list drawing because there was enough tags for everyone on the list.
