bear bust options
« on: May 12, 2010, 07:50:17 PM »
I have a hide from last fall's bear in the freezer. I skinned it like a 3/4 life size. I think most likely I would like to have it mounted instead of the bear that I hope to shoot this spring because last fall's bear was a mature boar, it was my 10th bear, I called it in by myself with a mouthblown call and I only had my Ruger Bisley 45 Colt revolver which I used to dispatch it with one shot at 85 yards. So it was a special bear taken under special circumstances. Due to financial constraints I will most likely just do a bust mount instead of the 3/4 life size. I am not sure on whether I would want open or closed mouth but am leaning toward closed mouth. I do not care for the snarling, wrinkled nose posture. I just am not a fan of the aggressive look. I wonder if there is some website that would have lots of different mounts that I could look at to get an idea on how I would like mine to look? Thanks, Rufous

Here is a shoulder I did. I like the closed mouth bears the best. Look more natural. This was a straight, but you can go left or right turns also.
