Post Work Hunt
« on: May 18, 2010, 08:20:00 AM »
Was a nice evening yesterday so after work ate dinner while I changed and had the youngest boy (he's 14) load up the vests and guns.  Jumped in the rig while still eating and headed for the spot trying to maximumize on the remaining daylight.  Of course about half way there realized that I had forgotten the camera.  We joked that it might be a good sign.

On the way in ran across 5 Whitetail.  Got set up and did a few calls.  Listened to the pheasant cackling all around us.  Watched about 20 deer move across the hill across from us.  One already had antlers as wide and tall as his ears.  Had a pheasant drop in about 25 ft from us.  He spent about 10 min puttering around us then got in front of us, beat his wings, cackled and took off.

Didn't see or hear any turkey but had an enjoyable evening in the woods.  On the way home watched a thunderstorm head towards town.  Got home just in time before it poured.  The boy asked if we could go again this week.  Right now looking at the weather tonite is not looking good.
What's the most dangerous thing said in the US Navy? -- A Chief Petty Officer saying "Watch this s$%^!!"

"I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: 'I served in the United States Navy.'"
President John F. Kennedy

The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.
