especially .22's
you could try a bunch and they're all gonna be pretty accurate. You'll find some that are ridiculously accurate though...
some to try:

for bulk ammo, ive found that blazers are the most accurate out of my 10/22 (so far). the box i have now are the winchester hollow points and they're not very good. ive got a 6 inch steel target at 135 yards and i can only get 3-5 out of 10 rounds to hit the target. with the blazers i would get 9 or 10.

Federal Gold or Eley 10x may be good options. Try multiple brands to see which one your rifle likes. To check the accuracy place it on a bench and shoot 5 or 10 shot groups at 50 yards. That will tell you which one the gun patterns best with. Then buy a case with the same lot number.

my rifle really likes cci standard velocity. mini mags are about the only rounds that don't shoot worth a damn for me.
generally the subsonics are going to be the most accurate.

Wolf MT, S&K, Lapua, Eley.
Your rifle will find what it likes through testing various brands as each barrel is a bit different. But the better ammo the more consistent and accurate it will be. If you want really accurate you pretty much are stuck with European brands. But for good accuracy, not quite target grade I like the CCI Subsonic and SV.

Standard velocity rounds are usually more accurate than high velocity rounds.

You generally have to pay to play in the 22lr accuracy game.
I guess it's really how you define accurate.
I can put 10 shots thru a dime at 50yds every time, as long as wind is not a factor.
1" at 100yds is all I could ask from 22lr.
Some have found Aguila (hecho en Mexico) makes some decent low-velocity target ammo.
I have shot Federal Gold Match thru my CZ Varmint and Wolf Match beats the Federal, hands down.
Another ammo, hard to find around here, is SK Match, same as Wolf.
You're not going to find many bulk ammo deals for accurate ammo.

I shoot a bunch of 22lr every year at prairie dogs. Quality ammo works far better in the semi-auto's especially, but I have found that the cheap Federal boxes of 550 at Wal-Mart and elsewhere perform better than most of the other cheap 22lr. I bought about 8000 rounds of it last year and am still happy with its performance considering its cheap ammo.

Wolf Match Target would be my first choice for good, accurate, yet still affordable. For cheap plinkers, look at Minimags or Winchester Super X.
Bulk stuff is fine for tin cans and clay pigeons, but if you run it through a Chrony you'll see in a hurry that there is a LOT of deviation in velocity from shot to shot. If you want accuracy, especially at 50yds+ you need consistency.

I took my new S&W M&P15-22 to the range the other day with a 550 bulk pack of Federals bought at Wally World. I was happy with the results, they fed well, and I placed 150 or so rounds in a 6 inch circle at 50 yards. Then I switched to CCI mini mags. I was amazed with the results. 100 rounds inside a 3 inch circle, with the majority of those inside a 2 inch circle. For some, that isn't real accuracy, but with this type of rifle, I was pleased.

Eley, Lapua, target ammo is about $7-12.00 a box for 50. Go to a precision match sometime. 25 targets on a sheet plus a sighter. the 10 ring is 1/4 inch with a 1/8 inch X. I have seen many scores of 247 thru 249 with 10 X's. a match 22 with match ammo is capable of 1/4 inch groups at 50 yards/meters easily. "dime" size groups at 50 will not even qualify.
A match 22 rifle generally will not chamber non-match ammo. the difference between match ammo and standard is amazing.

"Aguila (hecho en Mexico) makes some decent low-velocity target ammo"
I Have shot their sub sonic shorts and their 90 gain sub sonic... They claim that at 100yd the 90grain penetrates 12in of gelatin.... They won't work in semi auto's and even in a long barrel bolt action you should clean after every couple of shots... I have shot them through my savage over under 22Lr 20 GA and there is usually enought residue left over to block light after a couple of shots... Very quite... One of those in the pipe and #4 buck shot for yotes... Haven't got one with that combo yet tho.
