As for maps there are a couple ways to find them.  You can buy computer programs at cabelas, wholesale sports, etc.  Or you can use the internet, such as mytopo.com and I'm sure there are plenty of other sites.

If you want really good topomaps, use USGS Quads.   FOr the most part, they are about as accurate as they get.  They'll cost you...not that much per map really, but a map only covers a small area(which also makes them EXTREMELY useful)   Its how I hunt out of state.  I know without coming on sites like this and say ......"can you tell me where to hunt." I've never been to my unit.  If you are really hardcore, you get them all laminated so that they last out in the field.

Yea then you end up with a storage box full of laminated maps like I have. Can a person ever have enough maps?

I used to work with a guy that hates my guts over some maps.  He had about a dozen local green trail maps and he had them laminated.  He left them (forgot) at the front desk of the lab at the hospital I work for over a week.   They disappeared.  Imagine that....   and to this day he thinks I stole them. I already had everyone of them already laminated.  Whatever...........Bottom line, a man can get pissy over his maps, even lose a friendship over them

Yeah,....I am famous for always having custom maps of the areas our group hunts.... I even list shooting hours on them for the year, etc.... usually have a copy ready for each hunter...  Been customizing my own with Nat Geo Topo.... So I end up with a new map each year of where ever we are hunting each species.......sort of like an archive of hunting...  Bury me in them...
