Bobcat making an interesting sound.

i don't know if that was the cat or the person making the noise sounds like the person to me  also sounded like they were clicking with there mouths as well trying to keep it intrested.

I think you may be right.  I thought I saw the cats mouth moving with the sound but as the cat gets further away the sound stays the same volume.  I knew the clicking was the camera man though.  Oh well cant blame me for getting excited about cat hunting.

Not my video BTW just one I came across on youtube.  I have spent a lot of time looking up hunting videos and reading old articles.  I think I have read the the cougar calling stories on Rainshadows site about three time now.  I need to get out in the woods.

I've made sounds just like that, the squeak/squeal/wheezing.  I had a really bad respiratory infection.  Illness would explain it's tameness, dizzy with fever..

People also keep bobcats as pets and occasionally they get loose and do not act like wild cats whci was my first thought this was a human raised tame bobcat.....and if the cat made that noise the sort of squeaky one it is a sound I hear right before my two cats tear each other apart it comes ahead of a growl and full blown screaming cat attack....

I thought the higer pitched sound was the cat, wasn't it? It wasn't a good sound to use, as it started making it when it's face seemed to say, "Wait a minute! That's a person!  I wasn't supposed to walk right up to a person!" Like a threat or a warning to stay clear, only with a little egg on its face!

I have a large Hybrid cat that makes that same sound when it gets challenged by another cat. If the oter cat keeps crouding it the sound turns into a scream then a growl and the fur flies. That sound is a warning off sound.

I've said this about bobcats for years:  They are curious and weird.  No other explanation for their behavior to me.  This lil guy fits right in.

my cat made the same sounds when it had a sinus infection.  it prob did feel threatened at all since it was sick, also could have just been on its last leg of life, cats tend not to live if the get an infection of the sinus, since they can not smell, and when they cant smell they do not eat.

I would have assumed it to be rabid and blasted it. No question. As cool as that is I would NEVER let a Bobcat get that close to me unless it's dead. That said, they sure are cool creatures.

I called one in 3 years ago off of the rocks he was cat napping on. I only had my 300 Ultra with me.
I went back to my truck to get my 22 mag and he stalked me the whole way. Never a sound though. Weird.

I like it when he bent down to pet it like a good kitty that could have went way wrong, would have made for a really cool video if it had been a trick ( on the cats part  )
