Wolves were delisted today
« on: February 21, 2008, 03:59:30 PM »
Wolves in ID, MT, and WY were delisted today and the States will begin management of those populations.  The Anti's have their 'big guns' ready for lawsuits to avoid a hunting season.  I think those states are completely prepared for that and will go ahead with a harvest season.
I'm going to put in for ID.

It's a beautiful thing that has just happened.  Pretty soon we'll be hunting Griz again in Montana as well.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.

Yep just minutes ago I heard on the radio that the Friends of Wolves (?) are suing ID F&W to stop the delisting process.  They're afraid it will ruin the chances for the "masses of people prowling the wilderness with their Binos to watch the wolves" along with local economies.

Hey I'm all for saving the wilderness and all Gods creatures but jimminy&*@#~! put down the pipe people!

The state has acknowledged thier WA population, but I bet it takes a LONG time to get a season here!

You know, I figure with poision gone, there is now way in hell, even if they made it a general season for all, not enough wolves could be killed to hurt them.  They are the most elusive animal out there.   This is a move in the right direction.

As much time as you have spent in the woods hound, and how much sign you have seen, how many have you seen?  I'm betting more have seen YOU. :)

everyone that I know is very excited about this. I may be to excited but a guy can dream, right. I can't wait for the day I will have chane to kill one of these great predators. To call one in would be the ultimate conquest for a predator hunter.

It sure would but what would you do with the rest of the hungry mob, especially if they hung around. :P

Raffle? Then every Tom, Dick and Harry will apply for a tag, and whoever gets drawn will not know what to do with it, the Game dept will make tons of cash, hunters will kill few if any (legally), the population will continue to grow, and wildlife will say "Hey...look,...we gave hunters the chance, they dont get many, there must not be very many to worry about.....Oh... and yeah, the elk and deer numbers are down, so we need to limit the hunt more, and reduce the permit oportunities...too bad...."

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that.  I figured I was becoming grouchy again.  You'll have guys chiming in, I drew a wolf permit, now how and where do I go about doing this. :chuckle:

If someone posts that they "just drew a tag" on MM they are going to get more help than they know what to do with.........I could see a guide giving them a free hunt in exchange for killing a pack in his area IMO.

Read the article boys and girls...

I find it truly amazing that so many of the biologists and game management folks will come out and say that they are in control of this situation. Willing to state that "now we will properly manage them..." You know damned well that they are talking behind the scenes like; "holy crap...what have we started...?"  Obviously this is out of hand in the Rockies. The whole reintroduction thing was a lie from the start, and now they are lying again about being able to "manage" the wolves.  :bash:

Seems like a good addition. :)    The only way to manage  wolves effectively is with poision.  Lead poision is always helpful but not real adequate.
