Make sure you pay the extra 2$ for the wolf tag option when you get your deer tag. :twocents:

I've bowhunted around Winthrop/Twisp the last 3 years in a row.  It's really dry and noisy in September.

The deer you would be hunting are the "local ones".  Some deer will be up high and some will be down low.

If you are going to be hunting around winthrop during september then you will be hunting local bucks.  They will be in all the fields that time of year but go up into some of the canyons to bed.  If you can get over there and find which fields they are going into and where they are beded you will have your best chance.  Behind alot of those fields in public land.  If you get a map it will tell you which areas are pubic and you can concertrate on the fields that border that land. It is really hot druing that season but if you get them figured out and set up on a trail you should be able to bag one.  Remember that when they are going to bed and going to eat will be your best chance.  Its really loud then so sneaking up on them after they are bedded can be a challange.  Good Luck.

No, they are referring to muledeer.  "local bucks" are the ones that don't migrate.  There are whitetails that are down too but thats a differetn story.

Follow the Chewuck "or how ever you spell it" River to the end. Then go another 10 or so miles on the dirt road. If you dont see crap loads of deer, your blind! :P
