I compared against the Nikon Prostaff... thought the prostaff was better... and 1/2 the price.

who makes it?

I see lots of Cabelas stuff and finding out who makes it is the root of understanding the quality.  Cabelas Gun safes have a "Made by Liberty" sign inside most of them.

Much like Costco with their Kirkland brand.  Kirkland batteries are the same as the Duracell next to them, but you get more
batteries for the same money when you buy the Kirkland.

If your going to drop $1,200 for glass, shouldn't you just get Swaro's..?
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

or maybe the Leupold gold ring HD?

The swaro's are closer to $2000-$2800 depending on the model you select.

The salesman told me he thought Tasco makes all the Cabela's spotting scopes, but wasn't sure.  Costco brand (Kirkland) usually means you are paying less for an otherwise name brand.  Cabela's ive found to be the opposite - you end up paying more for a lesser brand.  I tried thier HD spotters too and thought they were horrible.  There's a reason why cabela's brands go on sale for pennies on the dollars- cheap production and huge margins.

That was my #1 choice for $1000 (gold ring)- awesome spotter.

#1 choice for $500-$700 is the Nikon.

Eastmans had the same recommendations - they held up when I went testing.

The Euro spotter is made by Meopta. Don't know who makes the pine ridge garbage.

Oh, I guess I wasn't paying attention to what size spotter he was looking at.
