whats the difference in warranty? And if it does't have a gold ring on it, it's made over seas
redfield scopes are made in USA.

Thats not true.

I have a Leupold Mark IV 6.5-20 that is black as a halloween cat, and it was made in good ol Beaverton, Oregon.  Mark 4's don't have the gold ring.

I bought the new Redfield Revolution too.  Very nice and clear and a good price.  Leupold Rings.

Even if Nikon and Leupold get their glass from the same company, they're not the same scope. For one thing, the Leupolds are made here in the USA, Nikons are made in Japan. Then there is the Leupold warranty, which I don't think Nikon can match. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Nikon rifle scopes. I'd just rather support American companies and American workers.

Nikon has started moving optics manufacturing to China as well.

I have posted a few things on Nikon scopes in the past and gotten some mixed reviews.. I was very surprised though.

I have 3 Nikon scopes, Prostaff 3-9x40, Monarch 3-12x42 and Monarch 4-16x50.. all are great scopes.

ALSO:

Warranty is FULL lifetime, JUST like Leupold. This all comes down to choice at the end. When I look through a Leupold and a Nikon, I can not see a difference, period. BOTH are great. So, what do I compare next... Nikon has been making optics LONGER than Leupold, cameras, lenses, etc for a long time.. just like Leica. Service.. when I have talked to Nikon owners who have sent in products for repair.. they get it back fixed right away.. have yet to hear a bad story.

Final consideration.. cost. I LOVE to support NW companies in hunting, hell.. I am on the Rvers West Pro Team.. but for about 100 bucks in price and that is what I usually find.. I wont pay more for the Leupold. If it was 25-50.. maybe.. but 100 or more is significant.

Oh and the BDC.. I really like it. Check this site out:

Shooting will always tell you for sure where your shot is going to go.. but this gives you a great starting point.

The Leupold binocular line is different than the rifles scopes. The binoculars are all made overseas except for the top of the line (Gold Ring) Binos, those are made here in America. All rifle scopes that have the Leupold name including the new Redfields are made right here in American down in Oregon, I called the Leupold factory and asked them these questions. So all the (Wind River) stuff is made overseas. If you have a Leupold rifle scope its American made.

if you could up your budget by $50 you could get a 3x9 40mm 4200. there is no scope made that sells for that money that can hang with it. talley or deadnuts leave ou nothing to worry about and add nearly no weight
