British Columbia Moose
« on: May 24, 2010, 03:04:13 PM »
Have any of you guys on here hunted BC for moose?  I've heard this may be the year to go, prices are down and the hunts aren't filling up.  Lots of openings for this fall.  If I dont draw any tags in Washington or Idaho I may be interested in booking one.

Just wondering if there are recommendations on where to go and who to hunt with?

I know some of you guys are MOOSE EXPERTS so I thought I would start here.   :chuckle:

I would highly recommend Scott Pichette, Bowron River Guiding. He has one of the most successful moose hunts in the province. A friend has hunted about 10 times and gotten a moose on every hunt.

If I remember correctly Scott had gotten 96 out of his last 100 moose hunters.

Can't speak for every hunt the guy does, but the fellow I know swears by him and has been successful on every trip.

-Are hunt was a absolute blast even though I didnt kill a moose! 2 hr argo ride into the camp on Nez lake. Man I was glad to get off that argo lol! 2nd day of hunt we had a 50" plus Bull swim across a lake coming at are cow calls but he winded us and never gave us a shot op! :( I believe it was the third day we were set up on a lake doing cow calls and I had a huge Timber Wolf coming in on me and I dumped him! Bucklucky is mounting him right now :hello: The fourth day my brother got a 45" bull that about charged him and ended up dying right in the middle of a pond, that was quit the experiance getting him out!! The next day paul, are buddy shot a 45" bull that walked right out on a beaver dam, Perfect for paul since he is half blind anyway lol :chuckle: Very fun experiance and im definetly going again in a few years, Caution though Moose hunting is very addicting!! :chuckle:

:llam: Hey Skookumhntr  :hello:..  Paul was lucky it was 30 yrds this is what he typically does  :hunt2:.. haaa.. Sorry Paul  :chuckle:..  Double Eagle is a great outfit, when you go moose hunting in BC you can have a great hunt but it all depends on the weather just like any hunt. If the weather is bad then you wont see much moose if its cold you can pick your bull but you hunt hard.. Are hunt was no gimmie...  The bull i shot was the only moose i seen the entire 7 days, We gave him the old Tin Can trick and he came  :llam: running...  :mgun: then the war started on the lake edge 7 shots later  :beatdeadhorse: he was down!!  :chuckle: 3 double lung one kneck then when he was swimming the lake it was like shooting a duck with a 300 a bolt,  one in the Horn!!  :chuckle: !! Then we had to get the Swamp Donkey "argo" and drag that sucker out of the lake... Ive never seen a moose in my life so when pulled that sucker out of the pond i was like  :yike:!.. Nothing like being next to your first moose. There big... We didnt see to many meese though.. haha...! thats moose plural! ..  :chuckle:..  Just like Jim Shockey say's There's nothing like hunting Moose it will change your life... .. I cant wait to kill another, and its the best eating $hit i have ever had the guide Stew said the secret is to let it hang for 14-17 days im still eating that $hit.. I posted pictures a while back from the hunt..
