Where to get an old mount redone?
« on: May 24, 2010, 07:12:51 PM »
I'm not sure what the procedure is for "re-mounting" a deer but I have a really old mule deer mount that isn't in bad condition but it sure as heck isn't what I'd call prestine. Does anybody know who or where I could call? and what would I be expecting to pay for this kind of service? I'm in Tricities. Thanks.

Well your in the right place. We have some great Taxi's on this site. I am sure one of them will chime in soon.

Do you have any pics of what you want to get redone?

Well if you want it remounted your going to need a new cape.  Depending on the size you want and how much I've paid for the cape they could range in price aywhere from $100 - $175.  Than $475 for the Mount.  So to have it remounted on a standard shoulder mount your looking at anywhere from $575 - $650.  Plus Tax.

Yea, you would just pull the antlers off of the old mount and throw it away and mount the antlers on a new form with a new cape. Most of us have capes available for muledeer, whitetail and blacktail.

Dang! I guess I'll just go ahead a shoot another deer that looks exactly the same...if it's gonna cost just as much as a new mount. Thanks.

Id take it to Michelle, she's cheap  :chuckle:

I'm 125-200 for a cape
525.00 for a shoulder mount
Plus tax  :hello:

So thats 650 + 7.9% tax = $701.35 with a smallish cape to
725.00 + 7.9% = $782.27 with a large cape  :yike:

 :jacked:

(that was about 5 posts overdue)

Seriously, I happen to know that Michelle has a real pretty eastern WA mule deer cape that would probably fit on your remount...

That would put Bucklucky in the "Under 5' squad".   :chuckle:  Except for when he wears his high heel leprechaun boots.

Is that why his elk looked so big?   :chuckle: :chuckle:

It is not how small you are, it is how big of a shadow you cast. And Charlie I Love you like a lil lil redheaded step brother, but I know that the shadow you display is a big one. All 5ft 3 inches of it!!!!!!!!!!!!
