How are Remington 700 XCR II Bedded?
« on: May 26, 2010, 10:35:15 AM »
Anybody know the bedding process or elements for these synthetic stock rifles when they come from the factory? The Remington Web site does not show any info.. or at least nothing I can find.

Just from general reading around I see a lot of complaints of it having a flimsy fore end much like other manufacturer's, I ran into the same problem with a rifle I recently bought and ended up replacing the stock with a bell and carlson medalist. The downside to the B&C stock is about 3 extra pounds in weight, the upside is very repeatable and consistent accuracy as well as a reduction in felt recoil and a much more comfortable stock. The B&C stocks are aluminum bedded with an aluminum reinforced fore end, it has NO flex at all.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

My guess is they use a full Aluminum bedding block.

I have taken mine apart, and can't say if it is full aluminum, but it is definitely partially aluminum going through the stock.  I actually like the stock quite a bit.  Are there better ones out there? well yes.  However,   Not many that come on factory production rifles in the same price range.  Much of it will come down to preference, but I have been pretty impressed on the .300 Ultra Mag thus far.  Probably have about 100 -125 rounds through it so far.

Looks like they are using several different stocks if you look model by model, B&C, Hogue and their own which if I am reading it right is what the OP actually got.
