Which rest?

I looked up other threads to find what everyone likes better between the WB and the drop away, but there wasn't much opinion on the Octane Hostage Pro. The WB that doesn't have whiskers where the fletching is. I am thinking about getting a new rest and this was on my list.

This may sound petty but the one thing that really turns me off is having to slide the arrow into the rest. With a drop away you just nock the arrow and set it on the rest. With the WB the slot is off to the side so the arrow doesnt hit the sight and just drops in place. IMO a properly adjusted WB is the perfect hunting rest.

for what its worth the spott hogg whammy seems to me to be the best of both worlds. ive got one on my bowtech and it works flawlessly. and really give you a ton of stability

Lots of people love the WB, but for me, you couldn't give me one of the danged things.  A completely counter intuitive rest if you ask me.  Fletching contact of any kind with the rest is simply not good, no and's, if's or butt's about it in my opinion.  A good fall away is perfect answer in my opinion.  Accurate, fast and if you build your arrow shelf correctly, the arrow doesn't fall off the shelf when moving around.  Switched to a Original Trophy taker back in probably 98 or 99, when Dan was still selling them himself at 3d shoots and they came with all parts in a ziploc with his label stapled to the bag.  He's taken it a long way since then.  Now shoot a Trophy taker shakey and I won't switch away from a fall away personally.

hands down the whisker bisket for a hunting arrow rest!  There is to much mechanicals that can go wrong with a drop away, dont get me wrong the drop away is an awesome rest just not for me,  i shoot 273 fps with a 27 inch draw at 67 lbs i shoot the PSE Xforce and have had the wb on all my bows!

I'M with Goldtip.  You couldn't pay me to use a WB!  I use the original (bought it when they first came out and still use it) Trophy Taker.  Fall-away is the way to go with 0 contact after release, IMO.  WB is fine if you are just starting out, don't shoot a lot or don't pay attention to your form.  It is the old Ford/Chevy/Dodge argument.  Some swear by them some hate them.

Looks like you've had great results from the WB, they just don't make sense to me, so I won't use one.  Another question, a Robin hood is really cool if the arrows are in the bullseye, if not then they are pure chance.

Guess it's just preference, I shot WB on my buddies bow and it worked great. When I finally bought a bow I went with a drop away rest. I got the mathews down force and love it. I shoot quite a bit and the WB seems to be hard in fletchings from that I hear. The down force sits almost flush on the bow and comes with a little piece that your arrow clicks into so if you were to knock and then stalk in your arrow does not fall of the rest.

i switched from a whisker to a trophy taker full containment and have not looked back i still love the whiskers but i am on the east side and when i was hunting when it was wet the fibers were sticking together and getting clumpy and i know for a fact that it would change point of impact. they make the spray for it and i tried it and it did help but once that full comtainment drop away came out i threw one on and will not change. my wife and brother still shoot them and they are great and about 4 of my bows have them but i trust my trophy taker a bit better

Look at the QAD ultra rest its a full containment drop away. Once you lock the rest in the up position you can come to full draw and let down and the rest will keep the arrow at full containment until you actually. Your arrow also won't have a chance to rattle around like some of the other "full containment" rests, unless you tip the bow upside down.

Gink dry fly dressing rubbed onto a WB and it will never freeze or hold water.

I'm just joshing with ya 7mm, I know guys who shoot them and swear by them, they are just not for me.
