Trail cam pic of grizz..
« on: May 27, 2010, 09:52:00 AM »
I just had this emailed to me, pretty cool if real.. ?
This picture was taken north of Spokane about 50+ miles.

HOLY COW...look at those claws.  So much for berry picking.

Now, do you know why I don't carry the lunch and go hunting  anymore?

This picture is just off the “Flowery Trail Road ” runs over the mountain from Cusick to Chewelah.
A hunter was photographing elk during that cold snap last week and happened on to this spike elk carcass.
There wasn't much left...but based on what there were for tracks a bear had just left it.
Didn't see the bear so we put a remote trail cam up to see what exactly was feeding on it.
About 50 minutes later this is what showed up.  Look at the claws on this giant bugger!
Can't say I've seen too many with that much claw in the fall.
Wow!  For those of you that don't know Flowery Trail is the road the goes to the Ski Hill, 49 degrees North!
He's definitely a Griz!
For those of you that do know the area, you might want to be careful!
Their going down!!!

3rd, maybe 4th time it's been on here.
still cool though.
I think the question arose as to the validity of the story but I can't remember for sure.

The story I heard was the photo was real but the animal and camera were placed specifically to capture this bear on camera, but who knows  :dunno:

Doesn't look like 49 degrees to me. Check out this thread, says it was British Columbia.

Just something fishy about the pic for me when looking at it.  Claws are exceedingly long for a fall bear, which the surrounding pic obviously suggests it is.  They are twice or maybe 3 times as long and most Fall grizzlies, and thats all the toes.  I've seen one grizzly with a claw like that, and it was only one claw on a front foot that had a broken toe, toe stuck straight up, and it was a spring bear in AK.  Personally not buying that a Griz made it through the spring, summer and fall and into snow season with claws like that on both feet.  I'm saying it's is photoshopped in some way.  Could I buy into claws like that right out of the den, maybe, but that would be spring.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.
You are never to old to learn something stupid.
