If it was just a pic of the body, it could be called a griz, but the face gives it away as a black bear.

p.s. thats the same color as the sow and 2 cubs I saw last month turkey hunting...they were beautiful.

Thanks for the input! I kinda thought is was a blackie, but wasn't positive. Looks like a nice size bear. She was hoping it was a grizzly.

Very pretty bear, and good sized bear, but definitely a black bear.
