Old Indian Hunting Camps !!!
« on: May 29, 2010, 05:58:31 AM »
I thinink these are old indian hunting camps  :dunno: I was going through some  of my thumb drives and found these i cant believe i forgot about them!  :o They were about 25 miles in and then we found some chips in a canyon nearby> Before it is brought up we did nothing to alter these and left everything including the chips were it was so the next hunter that finds his way in there can see what we seen  :)

LOVE it.  Not sure how long the teepee poles would exist, but the chips is cool.   Find that sort of thing on the columbia when the water gets low.

Very nice find.      Why would they leave the chips behind?  Anybody have an idea.  :dunno:

I'm not exactly sure but I'm guess would be that they're not big enough to work with anymore. We usually find them on the edge of canyons or high on hill sides, almost like he was sitting up there admirerring the country beneath him.pretty cool

The chips are just chips.  They are not artifacts or burial remains, so you should be able to pick them up if they are laying on private grounds.
Cut em!

Super cool.  They might not be very old either.  Sometimes local tribal guys will take out a group of youngsters and show them how it used to be done.
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I have found 2 areas in Washington, not on the Columbia River, with the same chips.  Maybe a pickup bed or so of chips just laying there in a place just perfect to camp.  The two areas are about 5 miles away from each other and maybe 20 miles away from the Columbia, both next to creeks in box type canyons.
