My cousin has the truth 1 it is not a bad shooting bow for the price but it is few years old now.  He has never had a problem with it yet and it has killed a few deer.  I don't know much about the new ones but shop around and shoot a few would be my advice.

If you're looking at a beginners bow I would look at the Bowtech Sniper.  Very smooth and has a long brace height so it is VERY forgiving.  Speaking of which you can get a Mathews Switchback on EBay for about $400.  And that is a very nice bow.  From what I understand one of THE best bows Mathews ever made.  So I'd checkout ebay.

I shoot a bear Instinct and it is a great bow for the money, you can get one on ebay for 250.  It shot fast enough to blow through an elk at 60 yards.

I bought an "Attack" last year from a sales rep and he through in a "Truth 2". The "Truth" shoots better than the "Attack". However, Will Primos and I don't see eye to eye, so I refuse to keep it. If you want it, get ahold of me, bts@toledotel-wb.com or 360.749.5244.

I bought my Bear Truth as a “last year’s model” (’07 in ’08) on E-bay.
I highly suggest looking there for excellent prices.
It will take some real convincing to get it away from me OR to change manufacturers again. I started with Bear many years ago, went to PSE (regretted the decision after two weeks) and then got the Truth.

Mine is quiet and accurate.

Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service are bonuses.

i went through 5 bows in one yr befor i ended up with a mathews dxt. i suguest that you go to a pro shop and shoot a bunch of bows befor you buy one. so you end up happy with the bow you have.if i had done that it would have saved me a bunch of money.and waisted time.i ended up buying the dxt on ebay for half what i could have got it for at a pro shop. so if you can find a used high end bow i think you are better off.

In ten years, I'll probably need 40 pound limbs instead of 60's...

In my experience, they have always been very customer supportive.

I still like their products. Pretty fair "Bang for the Buck".

That's why Winchester, Remington and Ruger are all still in business.

I've been shooting my Bear Lights Out for two years...
Purchased as a bare bow...added a cheap PSE 4-pin sight and a limbsaver fall-away rest.

I have zero complaints. Not the fastest bow on the market, but very quiet and pretty smooth. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

I won't say they're a "best bow" on the market, but a very good bang for the buck...
I left it better than I found it...did you?

Just to clear any confusion I may have created, here is the reply I received from Bear Archery regarding warranties on their products:

----- Original Message -----
From: Bear CustomerCare
To: Konrad
Sent: Thursday, June 24, 2010 8:13 AM
Subject: Re: warranty

Konrad,

Our warranty as of 2008 is as follows:

For the first 5 years from the date of purchase to the original owner, the limbs are covered 100% for the first 5 years and then the owner is responsible for 50% after the 5 years.  The riser and cams have a lifetime warranty .

This warranty is in effect today with the current line.  The string and cable are never covered under warranty.

Thanks

Kristene

Fred Bear is not bad for the price I use to own an Instinct. Just look on the classifieds on acherytalk.com and you can find some smoking deals.

Pick a price range and shoot every bow in that range.  Buy the best bow you can afford, and Buy the most comfortable bow for YOU.  I own a '08 Bear Game Over and LOVE it.  I like it more than my Dads Diamond, But his fits him better.  Everyone is going to give you an opinion and a reason.  I love my Bow but that doesn't mean you would. Get me ;)
